Kate & Leopold (2001)
Dir: James Mangold
Cast: Meg Ryan, Hugh Jackman, Liev Schrieber, Breckin Meyer, Bradley
Whitford, Charlotte Ayanna, Phillip Bosco
He makes the perfect duke, his
"speeches" are amazing, the script is flat sometimes, but it's a cute
unpretencious story.
Swordfish (2001)
Dir: Dominic Sena
Cast: John Travolta, Hugh Jackman, Halle Berry, Don Cheadle, Sam
Shepard, Vinnie Jones, Camryn Grimes
This movie is an action
thriller with great moments (no, girls, I am not speaking about Hugh
playing golf with just a towel on!)
Someone Like You (2001)
Dir: Tony Goldwyn
Cast: Ashley Judd, Greg Kinnear, Hugh Jackman, Marisa Tomei, Ellen
Barkin
I love him in this
role, he is very convicing. As with Wolverine, he plays the though guy
with a subtile vulnerability hidden inside, which , after all, is
the most wanted kind of man.

The Boy From Oz (workshop) (2002)
Dir: Philip McKinley
Cast: Hugh Jackman, Isabel Keating, Ruthie Henshall, Michael Mulheren
Synopsis:
The Boy From Oz is about the late singer-songwriter from Down Under,
Peter Allen, who died in 1992 of complications from AIDS. Allen was a
dancer and lounge singer who caught the eye of singing legend Judy Garland
when he was appearing at the Hong Kong Hilton in 1964. Three years later,
he married her daughter, Liza Minnelli, though they were soon separated
and officially divorced in 1974. Allen, whose songs include the disco
anthem "I Go to Rio," rarely kept secret his sexual orientation, at a time
when sexual orientation was kept secret.
Running through April 2002, this workshop of The Boy From Oz - not
open to the public - is in anticipation of a possible Broadway run,
hopefully in early 2003. Playwright Martin Sherman (Bent) is
reworking the original Australian production with some different song
placements and an edgier tone.

Oklahoma! (1999)
Dir: Trevor Nunn
Cast: Maureen Lipman, Hugh Jackman, Josefina Gabrielle, Shuler Hensley,
Jimmy Johnston, Vicky Simon, Peter Polycarpou
The National Theatre's production of Oklahoma! transferred from its
sellout run at the RNT's Olivier Theatre to the Lyceum Theatre in London's
West End in January 1999. Hugh garnered an Olivier Award nomination (UK's
equivalent of the Tony) for Best Actor in a Musical for his performance as
Curly. The show was videotaped and is available on Region 2 (PAL) video
and DVD from Amazon UK.
This is actually the
first time I saw him. My sister went to London and came back with the
recorded show she had just seen. She loved it! And so did I. None of us
knew Hugh at that time and we didn't connect him with the hot actor in X-Men,
until I noticed that the beautiful singer and the super-hero were the same
person. That really dropped my chin!!! He was sooooo good in both
performances... We were, and still are, amazed.
